Product description
Altro TectTM Slip-resistant Kit
Unfamiliar with Altro resins? Epoxy floor coatings in a nutshell…
They give you an excellent, hard-wearing and protective finish over concrete and other suitable substrates. Generally, they offer a higher level of performance than paints and thinner seals – plus they are available in a choice of colours. They are mostly self-priming, consist of a base and a hardener, and provide good chemical and abrasion resistance.
Altro Tect is available in diverse “variants” – these are options, which offer different performance criteria. This kit is based on the Slip-resistant variant of Altro Tect. We also offer an Altro Tect™ Standard Kit and other options in the main Altro Tect range. |
Get all the benefits of a slip-resistant epoxy resin floor in a pre-packaged kit.
This kit is the ideal floor coating for areas such as warehousing, workshops, plant rooms, storage areas and garages, where you might occasionally spill water and want a fully sealed surface, which is easy to clean and maintain. It gives you a tough, durable, coloured finish for your space.
Altro Tect Slip-resistant is a great option for where you need good chemical and abrasion resistance in these hard-working environments and other light to medium duty applications. It is for areas where your risk assessment indicates that you need slip-resistant protection from occasional spillages of water.
Altro Tect Slip-resistant is a low odour, solvent-free epoxy high-build floor coating. It incorporates a micaceous mineral, which lightly textures the surface. You will receive a three-part kit, which comprises a base, separate hardener and small container of slip-resistant additive, which you will need to mix using a slow speed drill and mixing paddle. Then use either a low-loss medium pile synthetic roller or dense foam rubber squeegee to apply from a large roller tray.
Product guarantee: 3 Years from date of purchase
Guide coverage: 6.3kg unit = 1st coat 20m2. 2nd coat 25m2
2.5kg unit = 1st coat 8m2. 2nd coat 10m2

Installation
We want you to get the best result from your resin floor.
We have created the following overview and our supporting technical materials, not just to support you as you install this kit, but also to keep you safe. You must ensure you read, understand and follow our Health and Safety data sheets (MSDS Altro Tect Standard base and MSDS Altro Tect standard/slip-resistant/clear hardener) and our Technical data and installation guide.
If you have any questions, call us before you start, we’re here to help.
Who can typically install this resin kit?
We have designed this kit to be suitable for semi-skilled installers to use. Installing a resin floor is very different from installing a vinyl sheet or LVTs, so if you feel you lack the right experience to install this product and can benefit from professional help, please get in touch to discuss this with us.
Substrate requirements
Your substrates should be dry, structurally sound and free from contamination, friable materials or laitance, which may affect either the adhesion or penetration of the resin system. You must remove all residues of old paint coatings and dust. Substrates should achieve 26N/mm2 compressive strength and 1.5N/mm2 surface tensile strength, include an integral effective damp-proof membrane, and contain residual moisture not greater than 5% by weight (75% RH).
Surface preparation
Prepare the surface of the substrate with a dust enclosed diamond floor grinder, or lightly shot blast it, to leave a textured surface free from contamination. If the floor has been treated with a cementitious surface improver, prepare the surface following the manufacturer’s recommendations or abrade with a rotary floor preparation machine, followed by thorough vacuuming. Carry out any local repairs, treatment of cracks and holes, improvement or modification of levels and removal of high spots before installation.
Installation conditions
Apply in well-ventilated areas only. Both the slab and air temperature should be greater than 10 °C and rising, and up to a maximum of 25 °C. Ambient conditions should be maintained at least 3 °C above dew point or below 75% RH during initial stages of cure. As the resin flooring cures, in condensing conditions, moisture vapour may condense onto the surface and cause blooming: a permanent clouding of the surface. Cold, wet or humid conditions and limited airflow can result in condensation on the part-cure floor.

Product installation
Using a slow speed drill and paddle thoroughly mix the base colour for 30 seconds. Pour all of the hardener into the pre-mixed base and mix for a further 2 minutes. Add the slip-resistant aggregate and mix for a further minute. Pour all of the mixed contents into a large roller tray and distribute evenly and uniformly onto the prepared substrate. Begin on the side of the main light source and work away from the light. Finish using a roller in the direction of the light source to ensure that you achieve a uniform and even coverage. Do not re-touch the area after 15 minutes, as this may cause variations in the finish. Allow the floor to cure for a minimum of 18 hours but for no more than 24 hours at 20 °C,before over-coating with the second coat.
If you exceed the 24 hours, you should lightly abrade and vacuum the surface before you apply the second coat. Ensure good airflow to assist with the cure. High temperatures, strong draughts and substrate porosity can affect the lapping time and can cause roller marks.
Full cure
You should achieve full cure in 7 days at 20 °C. Untreated felt paper is sufficient as protection from light traffic.
Your completed installation
As with other single colour finishes available on the market, Altro Tect Slip-resistant may exhibit scratching with traffic and abrasion, this is particularly noticeable in darker colours. In general, flooring will follow the profile of the underlying substrate. Thinner resin flooring types may reflect the surface profile. This will affect the appearance and wear.
