High-tack acrylic flooring adhesive
5 l container
A high-tack adhesive designed for ease of use with all types of vinyl flooring.
This adhesive is for use with Altro vinyl sheet or roll flooring and our modular luxury vinyl tiles in areas not subjected to spillages or moisture.
This is a single-part high-tack acrylic copolymer pressure-sensitive adhesive. The dried adhesive has a strong permanent tack, which also means you can bond PVC floor coverings to impervious surfaces. As this is a pressure-sensitive adhesive, it has certain advantages over other types of adhesive. It lets you quickly adjust the positioning of the floor once you have laid it. It beds down more as it is trafficked. You can use it as its own primer on porous and dusty surfaces, so it saves buying additional materials if required.
Designed for ease of use, as a single-part, you don’t have to mix two separate tubs, saving you time and effort. What’s more, if you don’t use all the tub in one go, you can put the lid back on and use it later – with a shelf life of up to 9 months, that’s a great way to get maximum use out of your adhesive.
To make installation even easier, we’ve coloured this adhesive blue, so you can see exactly where you’ve spread it as you install your floor.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I use this product?
You can use it in dry areas. We do not recommend that you use it in areas where you might have spillages, such as in shower areas and kitchens, where we recommend using AltroFix 19 Plus.
What subfloors can it I use it on?
You can use AltroFix 365 on dry, dustless subfloors such as sand / cement, asphalt (flooring grade I to BS 6925:1988), granolithic, power float concrete, epoxy surface damp proof membranes, plywood, chipboard and hardboard.
For best results, please make sure site conditions and subfloors conform with BS 8203:2017 when you use this product, full details of which can be found online.
What skill level do I need to use this product?
This product is suitable for use by professional installers or those with extensive experience of working with flooring adhesives. If you have any doubts about whether you have the right skill level to use it, please call us in advance to discuss.
What prep do I need?
The surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from oil, grease, paint, excessive dust and other contaminants, which could impair adhesion. Concrete and sand / cement screeds must be fully cured and free from laitance. You must stir the adhesive thoroughly before use.
Do I need to prime?
You need to prime very porous or dusty surfaces with a thin coat of AltroFix 365 adhesive: two parts water to one part adhesive.
How do I apply it when installing a sheet / roll?
Apply adhesive to the subfloor only and spread evenly with a ‘V’ notched trowel 1.5 mm x 5 mm. Immediately roll with a long handled paint roller which you have pre-wetted with the adhesive to smooth out the trowel serration marks to give a uniform smooth appearance.
Allow the adhesive to dry to a clear blue colour before you place the floor covering accurately in position and roll with a flooring roller in both directions.
Note: when laying material on impervious surfaces, the adhesive must be left to dry to avoid trapping any moisture in the adhesive between the subfloor and the material. You can also apply the adhesive in the traditional manner on absorbent subfloors, by spreading the adhesive with a 1.5 mm x 5 mm notched trowel and lay flooring into wet adhesive. This method can result in trowel serration marks showing through the surface of the flooring if the material is maintained with a high polish or seal.
How do I apply it when installing luxury vinyl tiles?
Apply adhesive using an A2 or 1.5 mm x 5 mm trowel blade (approx. 4 m2/kg). You MUST lay the modular flooring into the adhesive while the adhesive is still wet, it is vitally important to ensure that you achieve full adhesive transfer to the underside of the flooring, if the adhesive has ‘set’ or become dry, you must reapply it. If you fail to place the flooring into the adhesive while it’s wet, insufficient adhesive will transfer to the underside of the flooring and will result in the flooring not being properly adhered.
Only apply the amount of adhesive that you are able to overlay while it’s still wet. This will ensure a good transfer of adhesive. Roll with a 50 kg roller in both directions after you have placed the flooring. Clean any adhesive residue with a damp cloth and ensure all edges are firmly adhered to the subfloor and level in abutment before you leave the site.
How do I apply it to coves, internal and external corners?
When using materials of 2 mm and above in thickness to cove internal and external corners, use a suitable contact adhesive, or apply contact adhesive to the back of the appropriate part of the flooring material and AltroFix 365 to the coving. Allow both adhesives to dry before placing the material to the cove.
What coverage will I get?
It comes in 5 litre containers. Depending on the application and subfloor porosity, one container gives a coverage of approximately 25-35 m².
To make sure your installation is successful, it is important that you use the correct amount of adhesive. This amount depends on factors such as temperature and subfloor porosity. If you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to call us.
How do I clean my equipment and the installation area?
When you’re not using the paint roller, wrap it in a polythene bag. Exclude air to prevent the adhesive setting on the roller. Stand the roller upright so you don’t subject it to any pressure, then it should be suitable for further use. You should remove any surplus adhesive immediately from the installation area and your tools with clean warm water.
